I've frequented Al and Caffe Ambrosia in San Francisco's Financial District since I started working downtown in 2007. It breaks my heart that the best frozen yogurt in the city is going to cease operations this Friday, May 31, 2024. Every hot day downtown, every tough day at work, every time colleagues wanted to celebrate a small win, every time I just wanted to play hookie, Al met the moment to serve up the best tart Greek froyo or sweet French Custard to the masses of FiDi lemmings like me. I especially loved that the ambiance of Al's Caffe Ambrosia oozed his honest family values as a local San Franciscan and Golden State Warriors fan who wanted his patrons to enjoy highest quality food and ice cream delivered with a friendly attitude and straight forward service in a cafe that is clean, quaint and efficient. If one has ever enjoyed the Japanese sensation that is Cremia soft cream, I would argue that Al's product is a very competitive rival. There has never been a day that I've left Caffe Ambrosia upset or mad, and I will have the fondest memories of visiting Al over nearly 2 decades as a loyal customer. Thanks for the memories, and cheers to your success and happy retirement, Al. Thank you, Al and Caffe Ambrosia.

I'm so sad to write this but they lost their lease and are closing at the end of May. I've been coming here for decades and there is no better frozen yogurt shop in the FiDi. Generous sizes, great flavors and fresh toppings. Please visit before they close to make their sendoff a sweet one!

I love this place and am so glad it's here still. Reasonably priced and good classic fro yo. Plus owner is cool. Been coming here for years whenever I'm downtown

I had been craving fro-yo/soft serve for a while, so when I was tasked with picking the team post-lunch dessert, I knew exactly what I was looking for. Shoutout to Yelp for helping me find this hidden gem, and yes, it is pretty hidden! It's tucked away down an alley you might not think to venture down unless you know what you're looking for. I got a small (which is actually pretty big) half chocolate soft serve with French custard and Oreos on top and it was exactly what my heart, mouth, and stomach had been craving. It was so good in fact that I devoured it within minutes. The man working was nice and answered all our questions about toppings and the different sizes. So happy we found this spot!
